With the goal of forming students to be capable men for others—sharp tools in God’s hands—Jesuit’s rigorous, classically grounded curriculum holds every student to uncommonly high standards. On their academic journey, Blue Jays may elect to take Advanced Placement (AP) College Board courses with the potential to earn college credit, and each year around 400 such AP exams are taken by students at Jesuit.

For the 2024 school year, an outstanding 96% of Jesuit students who opted to take AP exams earned college credit for their performance on 16 different tests. Collectively, this amounts to thousands of hours of college credit. With students performing exceptionally well across the board, 79 Blue Jays were named AP Scholars for their scores on multiple exams.

In a rare feat accomplished by 13 of Jesuit’s top math students, 100% of Calculus BC students at Jesuit achieved a perfect “5” on a 1-5 scale. Calculus BC goes beyond typical Calculus or AP Calculus courses offered at many high schools as the scope of the course covers two complete college courses.

“I’m immensely proud of the work that our students put in throughout the year,” said calculus teacher Michael Armelin. “Credit goes to these math students, but also to all of the faculty members at Jesuit who tirelessly contributed to these students’ mathematical and intellectual foundation leading up to this senior-level class.”

Noted below are each of the students who were named AP Scholars.

  • AP Scholar with Distinction—Designation for students who earned an average score of 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scored a 3 or higher or five or more AP exams.
  • AP Scholar with Honor—Designation for students who earned an average of 3.25 on all AP exams taken with scores of 3 or higher on four or more AP exams.
  • AP Scholar—Designation for students

Above all, Jesuit relentlessly pursues God’s greater glory. While students’ academic accolades reflect the school’s mission, they are not the mission itself. They instead signify that Blue Jays are becoming the men that they were made to be: men of faith and men for others.

Alongside celebrating students who attain these academic accomplishments, Jesuit also highlights graduating seniors who are named winners of highly selective merit-based national scholarship competitions. Click here to read about more of these students.
