John Ryan Stadium Slated to Reopen in August
After months of repairs and updates to the turf at John Ryan Stadium, Jesuit is excited to announce that the school’s iconic baseball field will be accessible and operational this August. Blue Jay players and fans will appreciate the stadium’s fresh turf as they return to 100 Blue Jay Way.
“We’re already gearing up to have our student-athletes and coaches back at our own stadium,” said Dave Moreau, Jesuit’s athletic director and former head baseball coach. “I’m grateful to the flexibility shown by our parents, the resilience shown by our Blue Jays, and the commitment shown by everyone inside and outside of Jesuit who has been working hard get John Ryan running again.”
The field was already under scheduled updates at the end of last calendar year through the continued generous support of Janet Ryan—the wife of the stadium’s late namesake, John Ryan ’70—who herself recently established the Janet & John Ryan ’70 Full Education Fund to cover the entire cost of a Jesuit student’s education in perpetuity. During these updates, the field’s turf was damaged after flash flooding in December of 2023.
While the stadium is known as the home of Jesuit baseball, other sports and co-curriculars such as soccer, football, and the Blue Jay Band make frequent use of the Airline Drive space, and many school events such as Blue & White Night and alumni reunions attract thousands of members of the Jesuit community each year.
