The soccer team, defending state champions and No. 2 seed, showcased their determination to defend their title with a commanding 6-0 victory over No. 10 seed Brother Martin in the Division I quarterfinal match at John Ryan Stadium. From the start, the Blue Jays took control of the game, establishing a 4-0 lead by halftime and adding two additional goals in the second half.

Senior Graham Hemel led the charge with two goals, while senior Quinn Grandbouche, junior Hayes Laibe, junior Gavin Liantonio, and senior Grayson Savoie each contributed a goal to the tally. This decisive win marked Jesuit’s 16th shutout of the season, pushing their record to an impressive 19-1-1. The team’s only loss came in an out-of-state match against Ocean Springs, MS.

With this victory, the Blue Jays advance to the State semifinals, where they will face a familiar rival, No. 6 St. Paul’s. The Wolves, who claimed the Division I title in 2023, present a formidable challenge. Jesuit and St. Paul’s have a storied history, having met seven times in state championship matches. This year, the stakes are high as they meet in the semifinals.

Jesuit boasts 14 state championships, the most in the state, while St. Paul’s has secured 11 titles. The upcoming match promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of the state’s most decorated soccer programs. The Blue Jays, buoyed by their recent victory, are eager to continue their journey towards another state title.

Alongside the recent success, seniors Bryce Barrere and Andrew Duncan were selected for the LHSCA All Star East Team.

The semifinal match against St. Paul’s will be held February 15 at 2 p.m at John Ryan stadium.
