Seven Period Day, Day 4B

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place today until 3 pm in the 2nd floor chapel.
  • Join the Society of St. Joseph today during lunch in the 2nd Floor Chapel.
  • Big Brothers are needed for Welcome Day.  All current sophomores and juniors are encouraged to sign up, check your canvas messages for the Welcome Day link sent from Coach Firmin.  Seniors are also needed to sign up to help at Welcome Day. This is the first opportunity to get signed up to help us welcome the incoming students on Saturday, March 22.  Big Brothers will be given a first edition Jesuit Gizzard shirt and will be fed lunch.  See Coach Firmin or Coach Hernandez for more details.  
  • It’s your last chance to sign up for the Mission Drive March Madness Bracket Challenge! Whether you have a superstar like Cooper Flag and Duke winning it all, an underdog like Will Wade and McNeese State going far, or you plan to fill your bracket out by coolest mascot, come sign up through Tuesday of exam week in the Commons. Pay $10 to the missions to get a bracket emailed to you so you can fill it out for the chance to win over $100 in Blue Jay Shop and official Final Four merch!
  • The District Rally scheduled tomorrow at SLU in Hammond has been canceled because of risks of severe weather, including tornadoes. There are no plans to reschedule.
  • The Anime Club will meet today during lunch in Room 116 to watch Code Geass.
  • The Classic Rock Club will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 203.
  • The J-Troupe, Jesuit’s elite improv comedy team, will meet today after school in Room 202.
  • The varsity baseball team will host Rummel tonight at John Ryan Stadium with first pitch set for 6:30.  On Saturday our team will host Covington at John Ryan Stadium starting at 1:00.
  • The varsity lacrosse team will host Benton on Saturday night at Muss Bertilino starting at 7:30.
  • The varsity rugby team will host Rye (NY) tonight at Marconi starting at 7:15.  The varsity “B” game starts at 5:45, while the jv game begins at 4:15.
  • The 9th grade baseball team plays at Rummel this afternoon starting at 4:00.
  • March printing fees have been sent to students’ Outlook accounts and portal. Please pay your fees by Tuesday, March 18 in Room 213 either before school, during 10-minute break, or at the lunch hour to avoid losing computer services and receiving a PH.
  • All Intramural basketball participants must check the playoff schedule on IMleagues to see which day and half of lunch your team is playing. All teams must check the referee schedule and send someone to ref during your assigned time slot to be eligible for the March Madness tournament.

Results:

  • Last month, the Quiz Bowl team competed in the national Knowledge Master Open online tournament and finished in 3rd place overall.
  • Congratulations to the Track and Field team for the following results from Saturday’s Catholic High Tip Off: Connor Fanburg, second in the 1600 meters; Salvador Le, second in the 100 meters; Drago Cvitanovich, first in the 300 Hurdles; Michael Trepagnier, second in the 800 meters; Connor LaCour, first in the 200 meters; Bryce Tibbs, second in the 200 meters; Caleb Frilot, Connor LaCour, Ja’ir Burks, and Rowan Gleason, first in the 4×100 meter relay; and David Quintana, third in the 3200 meters.
  • Congratulations to the Jesuit golf team as they defeated Rummel, Shaw, and St. Augustine this week to start the spring campaign 3-0. Low scores of 1 under par were carded by sophomore William Boasberg and junior Nelson Bensel.
