Regular Order, Day 5

  • The Philelectic Society proudly presents Disney’s Newsies—opening tonight through Saturday at 7 PM, with a matinee on Saturday at 2 PM in the auditorium. Students, bring your school ID to the show and receive two free tickets. Look for the separate student line when you arrive. Hot dogs, soft pretzels, and other treats will be sold at intermission. Come support your classmates and enjoy a night of incredible storytelling. 
  • The Student Council will be hosting a pizza tailgate today at 6pm in the Banks St. parking lot to prepare for the Phils show, Newsies. If you are planning to attend, come early and get some pizza. If you weren’t planning to attend the show tonight…you should come see the show (for free) and get some pizza (for free).
  • The quarterfinal round of the FIFA tournament will take place today. During the first half of lunch, Man City will square off against Tottenham while Napoli faces Villareal. In the second half of lunch, it’s Barcelona vs. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich vs. AC Milan. 
  • Students who volunteered to donate blood today should report to the Commons at the beginning of the appointment period.  If you can no longer participate, please let the Blood Center staff know. If you have not yet turned in your permission slip, bring it with you to your appointment. Make sure you have eaten a good meal within at least 4 hours of your appointment. You will need a photo ID.
  • Jesuit’s SABR Club will meet during the first half of lunch in Room 331. Come discuss the highlights and statistics from the first week of Major League Baseball.
  • NBA Playoff Seeding and The Masters will be decided soon. Discuss this and more at today’s Sports Analysis Club meeting during the second half of lunch in Room 231. 
  • The Pro-Life Club will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 316.
  • The bowling team will face Slidell in a state semifinal match on today at Premier Lanes in Gonzales starting at 11:45.  Should the team emerge victorious they will advance to the state championship match at 3:45.
  • The Jesuit Cheer Team is looking for strong and athletic 8th-11th grade Jesuit students for their competition team.  The Cheer team is hosting an open practice today after school in the Benson Arena for all those interested.  Free Cane’s chicken will be available to all who participate.  Come out and meet the girls on the cheer team and see if this sport is for you. If you attended the first practice and are still interested you should attend tomorrow’s practice.
  • Students recommended for AP US History next year are reminded to turn in their forms to their Western Civ teachers by next Wednesday.
  • The deadline for the Churchill Society Essay Contest has been extended to Easter Sunday. If any student is still interested in participating or would like help with his essay, please see Mr. Trosclair.
  • 8th and 9th grade students who selected the Media Arts I elective as their first choice should pick up an application outside of the Student Communications Office, Room 130. Applications are due this Friday. See Mr. Flores if you have any questions.
  • Our Vocations Promoter, Fr. Juan Ruiz, SJ, is hosting a lunch tomorrow to discuss discernment with the Jesuits and the priesthood. Students who may be interested in having an intentional conversation about this kind of discernment are invited to RSVP on the signup sheet outside Room 129. A Lent-friendly lunch will be provided.
  • The varsity baseball team will face St. Augustine at Wesley Barrow tonight with first pitch set for 6:30.
  • The 9th grade baseball team will host St. Augustine this afternoon at John Ryan Stadium starting at 4:00.
  • The jv baseball team will host Holy Cross tonight at John Ryan Stadium starting at 6:30.
  • The golf team will face Shaw this afternoon at English Turn starting at 4:00.
  • Members of Mu Alpha Theta will meet Monday during the second half of lunch in St. Ignatius Hall. If you are unable to attend this meeting, you will need to email  Mrs. Brauner for your information and requirements for end of the year.
  • An admissions representative from Cardiff Metropolitan University in Wales, United Kingdom will be in the College Counseling Office during lunch today. Anyone interested in earning his college degree abroad should attend.  All rugby players are also encouraged to attend!
  • Juniors:  Your College Counseling Questionnaire is due Monday. Check your College Counseling Class on Canvas for instructions. 
  • Students who are serving, reading, or leading at the Stations of the Cross for the Penance Service today during 6th period, please report directly to the Martyrs Chapel (third floor) for your theology class. Your teacher will be notified of your absence.
  • For those interested in fasting on Friday by means of only bread and water, the Evangelization Team will have bread available for a minimal purchase in the Campus Ministry Room during lunch. Proceeds go to the Mission Drive.
