Tennis Bounces Back to Win Regionals

Tennis bounces back from a narrow district defeat to capture the Region IV Championship and book its fourth straight trip to the state tournament. IIn the Catholic League district final at City Park, Brother Martin edged Jesuit for the district title. A week later, Jesuit turned the tables, clinching the regional championship in part thanks to the doubles duo of seniors Leo Congeni and Scott Harper, who delivered a 7–6, 7–5 victory.
Competing in Division I—home to perennial powers and the reigning state champion—the Blue Jays will face one of the state’s deepest fields as they seek their first state title since 2019. Seniors Jake Bravo and junior Alton Swan advanced to the first round of the singles playoffs. In doubles play, Congeni and Harper will face Catholic, while senior Andrew Cavallino and junior Cody Martinez will meet St. Amant.
The state tournament begins Monday, April 28, in Monroe, with the semi-final and finals scheduled for Tuesday, April 29.
