In State Quarterfinals Match, Lacrosse Blue Jays Have Their Way with Crusaders, 17-3
The Blue Jay Lacrosse team beat long time rival, Brother Martin, in a game decided in the first quarter, 17-3, on April 10 in Muss Bertolino Stadium to win the state quarterfinals for the Louisiana High School Lacrosse League. This is the Jays’ sixth consecutive year to win the quarterfinals.
The depth of the Jays’ bench was evident with the wide variety of scorers. Junior Cameron Guernsey led the team with four goals. Seniors Arman Alizadeh and Evan Fitzpatrick each scored three goals. Junior Garrett Perez and sophomore Kent Flower each hit the net twice and senior Tom Nimmo, freshman Parker Simoneaux and junior defenseman Paul Stapp added one goal each.
This Blue Jay victory follows a win from their last regular season game versus Dutchtown 18-1 on April 8.
Trying for a Three-peat
As the No. 1 seed, the Blue Jays seek to defend their two-year state championship title as they return to the state semi-final and state title matches hosted at STM on April 26-27.
