Sophomore Max Murret, pictured here against Mandeville earlier this year, scored five times to help the Blue Jays beat Byrd High School on April 26.

Two sophomores combined for eight goals as the Blue Jays beat Byrd High School (Shreveport), 19-1, in a state semi-final game on Saturday, April 26. Attacker Max Murret had five goals for the Jays. Midfielder Dominic Sunseri added three.

In the other other semi-final contest, St. Paul’s beat St. Thomas More, 17-5.

The state championship tournament is being played at STM in Lafayette.

The Saturday victories by Jesuit and St. Paul’s set up a rematch of the 2012 and 2013 state championship games, both of which were won by the Blue Jays.

Opening face-off of the state title game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.
