Sulphur Bound! Jays Sweep Alexandria in Two Games to Earn Berth in State Tournament

Blake Baker is greeted by his teammates after hitting an inside-the-park home run in Game 2 of Jesuit’s quarterfinals “Best of 3” series against Alexandria. The Jays won Game 1 (4-3) and shutout the Trojans in Game 2, 8-0, to earn a trip to Sulphur next weekend to compete for a state championship in the annual LHSAA tournament.

The Blue Jays are in the “Final Four” and are Sulphur-bound to compete for the ultimate prep prize – a state championship in the LHSAA’s annual baseball tournament which will be played the weekend of May 16-17.

In a “best of 3” quarterfinals series between Jesuit and Alexandria this weekend at John Ryan Stadium, the Jays eliminated the Trojans and their horses by sweeping the whole enchilada, 4-3 (Game 1) and 8-0 (Game 2). A third game that undoubtedly would have wrecked Mother’s Day is no longer necessary.
