Rising sophomore members of the Blue Jay football team arrive in Hammond to assist with a Special Olympics event at Southeastern University.

Thirty members of the Blue Jay football program — all rising sophomores — traveled to Hammond on Saturday, May 24, to lend a hand at the Louisiana Special Olympics event on the campus of Southeastern University.

Defensive coordinator Troy Baglio drove the student-athletes and chaperoned them.

Head coach Wayde Keiser ’78 said his team has been making the trip for eight years.

“This is an important element of the formation process of our young men,” said Keiser. “We’re not just developing athletes. We’re developing in them a commitment to service.”
