Mason Mayfield and Sean Bretz pitched a combined no-hittter, striking out a total of 16 batters in Retif Oil’s 8-1 win over Ray Brandt Auto Group in an American Legion District 1 game Wednesday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Mayfield started on the mound for Retif and pitched four hitless innings to earn his first win of the season. He had seven strikeouts. Bretz pitched the last three hitless innings and struck out nine batters.

Retif’s bats were hot with catcher Trent Forshag leading the way with three singles and three RBIs. Outfielders Scott Crabtree, Brandon Briuglio, and Matthew Cedro each had two singles.

Retif Oil plays Otto Candies (Hahnville) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at John Ryan Stadium. The game is preceded by Junior Legion baseball.
