Wrestlers Take First Place in Ken Cole Invitational
The Blue Jay wrestling team won the 39th Annual Ken Cole Invitational at Comeaux High School on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30 and 31. This is the 14th time in the history of the invitational that the Blue Jays have taken home top honors. Jesuit finished with a team score of 244.5, 68 points head of the second place finisher, Teurlings Catholic High School.
Helping the Blue Jays to the first place finish were four individual champions — freshman Adam Larriviere (106), juniors Joseph Dupré (126) and Guy Patron, Jr. (195), and senior Ben D’Antonio (120).
Six other wrestlers placed in the top five at the invitation. Freshman Eli Larriviere (113), senior Peyton Markey (126), senior Jake Rovira (138), and junior Griffin Mason (145) each took third in their weight classes, while senior Will Lafranca (160) placed fourth and junior Brandon Wolff (132) took fifth.
The Blue Jays return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 4 when they wrestle at Holy Cross. The dual meet against the Tigers is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. On Friday, the Blue Jays wrestle in their final home meet at 6:30 p.m. against Archbishop Shaw High School.
