Seven Blue Jay Wrestlers Advance to Day 2 of State Tourney
The Blue Jay wrestling team wrapped up competition in day one of the LHSAA Division I State Wrestling Championships at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. The Blue Jays are holding steady in second place with 156 points, trailing Brother Martin (183). Holy Cross (154), Catholic (135), and St. Paul’s (131) round out the top five.
Seven of 11 Blue Jay quarterfinalists advanced to the final four, including top-seeded seniors Brody Martin (106), Ben D’Antonio (120), and Dominic Carmello (285). D’Antonio is looking to defend his state title in Saturday’s finals.
Also returning to action on day two are freshman Eli Larriviere (113), junior Joseph Dupré (128), senior Will Lafranca (152), and junior Guy Patron Jr. (195).
The action resumes Saturday morning at 9 a.m., with the semifinals slated for 10:30 a.m. The competition wraps up Saturday night. The finals will begin at around 6:30 p.m.
