Philelectic Society Presents The Music Man as 2015 Spring Musical
The Philelectic Society presents its 2015 spring musical, The Music Man with book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson, based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. Mrs. Kate Arthurs-Goldberg directs. The show takes the stage April 10-18, with a preview performance on April 9. See times and ticket prices below.
The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize — this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen – See more at www.mtishows.com.
The Phils’ production features a large cast. “This show is enormous, with over 100 in the cast and crew, including some “future Phils” guest performers,” says Mrs. Arthurs-Goldberg. View the cast list.
The Phils previewed the show with a few musical numbers at the Blue Jay Bazaar, and will perform on the WWL-TV Morning Show on Wednesday, April 8, between 7-9 a.m.
Advance tickets (at reduced prices) will be sold online and in the Student Commons during lunch both weeks of of the show. Cash, check, or credit will be accepted.
