Owls Can’t Survive the Hunt as Soccer Team Wins Big
Junior forward Hunt Navar scored Jesuit’s first two goals of the night to lead the Jesuit soccer team to a 5-0 victory over the Chalmette Owls on Monday, Nov. 30 at John Ryan Stadium.
Navar had toyed with the goal a couple of times already before breaking through at the 22:54 mark of the first half. He struck again some three and a half minutes later, with 19:31 remaining in the half. Less than two minutes after that, Navar found the net again but was denied the hat trick by a questionable offsides call.
Senior outside midfielder Charles Rice joined the scoring party at the 15:37 mark, evading several defenders and rocketing a shot past Chalmette’s goalie. By the time outside midfielder Grant Laizer finished off the first half scoring frenzy, coach Hubie Collins was already substituting liberally.
Senior Dillon Fuchs finished off the scoring with a goal late in the second half.
“Obviously, I’m happy with the result tonight,” said Collins. “We’ve still got a lot of work to do, but it was good to see the team respond positively after the loss to Holy Cross.”
The win raises Jesuit’s record to 3-1. Next up for the Jays is John Ehret. That game will be played at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2 at West Jefferson High School.
