Senior Rob Weiss had arguably the best game of his career as the Jesuit basketball team played arguably its best game of the season in beating Rummel 59-46 to take third place in the Valero Chalmette Christmas Classic on Saturday, Dec. 19 in the Chalmette High School gym.

Weiss scored 31 points–14 from inside the arc, nine on three-point shots, and eight from the free throw line–to go along with 14 rebounds. Freshman Elijah Morgan added 11 points, and junior Chris Beebe dished out six assists. Junior Sam Ovella contributed nine points and five rebounds.

Jesuit’s team stats were even more impressive. The Jays drained seven of 14 three-point attempts on the evening and converted 13 of 15 free throws. Jesuit’s team defense was such that the Raiders only shot 33 percent from the field and did not manage a single assist on the evening.

The win improves Jesuit’s record to 5-7 on the season.

The Jays take their show on the road after Christmas for what has become somewhat of a tradition–the Georgetown Prep Jesuit Tournament. Play begins on Dec. 27.
