Rob Roux ’76 Appointed to New Post at the Louisiana Workforce Commission
Rob Roux ’76 is the new executive counsel for the Louisiana Workforce Commission. He has been the agency’s lead attorney in workforce development issues for more than 25 years.
“Rob Roux brings to this position a deep knowledge of the legal environment surrounding workforce development issues,” said LWC executive director Ava Dejoie. “He will play an important role as we shape policy going forward that will help create family-sustaining jobs for the people of Louisiana.”
Roux was instrumental in Louisiana’s enactment of federal job training programs, including the Job Training Partnership Act, the Workforce Investment Act and, most recently, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. In addition, he has participated in crafting administrative regulations and workforce-related legislation at the state level.
The Louisiana Workforce Commission is an agency of state government that administers programs designed to enhance workforce growth and provide family-sustaining jobs for Louisiana residents. The commission monitors employment, administers unemployment compensation and tax funds, provides training resources for employers and employees, and oversees worker compensation benefits. The agency also gathers and supplies information on the labor market and occupational sectors in Louisiana.
