Lacrosse Rebounds by Pounding Pascagoula, 21-0
Just days after succumbing on Senior Night, the Jesuit lacrosse team pounded Pascagoula, 21-0. The match against the Panthers was played on Saturday, March 26, in Pascagoula.
Junior Jeremy Hamilton scored a career-high five goals, while classmate Briggs Lucia tallied four. Senior Thomas Cassagne added three goals and junior Daniel Leithman scored twice. Seniors Kyle Westholz and Rob Hinyub; juniors Jack Cronvich, Bennett Faust, Parker Simoneaux, and Michael Smart; and sophomore Peyton Queyrouze scored single goals.
The Blue Jays recorded ten assists, including two each from Leithman, Lucia, and senior Jeremy Scheffler.
“This was another chance to get some of our second and third line players, who work so hard at practice, extended playing time and they certainly took full advantage of their opportunity,” said head coach Steve Krobert ’05.
Jesuit dominated the center stripe, winning 23 of 24 face-offs.
Faust, the team’s face-off specialist, and junior Dieter Hugel led the team in ground ball pick-ups with 15 and 7, respectively.
Back-up goalie Grant Stevens, a junior, recorded his first shut-out of the season.
The Jays, who are now 5-0 in district competition, return to action on Tuesday, March 29, when they’ll face Holy Cross at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner. Face-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
