Sodality Hosts Annual Retreat at Spring Hill College
The Sodality of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception returned from its annual retreat with great courage and consolation in the Lord. Forty students attended this year’s retreat at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. Talks were given by leaders of Sodality, including Fr. Dyer, S.J., Fr. Brown, S.J., Mr. Minsal, S.J., Mr. Kramer, S.J., and Spring Hill College’s Dr. Matthew Baugh, S.J.
Retreatants spent time praying inside Spring Hill’s commemorative “Sodality Chapel,” a small wooded building erected by Sodalists dating back to the 1930s. The campus was scenic, the activities were lively, and the food — cooked by Jesuit’s very own Br. Terry Todd, S.J. — was delicious.
This year’s theme was “The Sacred Heart of Jesus.” The formation offered included topics on the Sacred Heart and its importance in the life of prayer, its history throughout the ages, its significance in living a life of mercy, and also its centrality for our vocations.
In accordance with the three pillars of Sodality, the retreat was oriented toward the formation of its members, growth in service, and the union of brotherhood.
