Retif’s Bats Catch Fire in the 10-2 Victory Against Post 307

Retif Oil (13-4, 3-1) took to the diamond at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium for their seventh game over six days against Post 307 (De La Salle). Retif jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The next inning Retif added another two runs to take an early 4-0 lead. After Post 307 responded with a score in the third, Retif would answer with three runs in the fourth and fifth to close out Post 307, 10-2.

Brandon Sequeira ’14 (3-0) led the defensive charge on the mound with his six innings of work before being relieved by James Licciardi ’14 (1-0) in the seventh. Sequeira allowed two runs on five hits while striking out eight batters.

Retif’s bats did not take long to heat up and stayed hot the entire game scoring in the first, second, fourth, and fifth. Alex Galy ’15 went 3-3 with a triple. Blake Baker ’14 and Trent Forshag ’15 both had two hits also recording a double and two RBIs. Spener Miller ’14 and Clayton Deron ’14 both had two hits with a triple from Deron and a double from Miller.

Retif returns to play another district-rival, Ponstein’s Grocery, on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium at 7 p.m.
