The First Morning Assembly

Clear skies on Monday morning afforded Blue Jays the opportunity to participate in the time-honored tradition of Morning Assembly. Students from all grade levels lined up in their new positions for the 2016-2017 school year. Mr. Peter Kernion ’90, the principal of Jesuit High School, encouraged students to do all things for the greater glory of God by borrowing from the motto of the Olympics – Citius, Altius, Fortius or “Faster, Higher, Stronger.”

The First Day of School

The 2016-17 school year officially began on Friday, August 12, the first full day for all 1,390 Blue Jays. This year’s student population includes 293 new students, 29 of whom are freshmen.

The first Morning Assembly of the school year was postponed to Monday morning due to rainy weather. Following the homeroom period, Blue Jays attended each of their seven classes. Students and their teachers who occupied any of the six classrooms on the second floor (in the Hall of Honors) were delighted with the outcome of a summer renovation project. The new classrooms sparkled clean and boast the latest in technology.

New Student Orientation, Thursday, Aug. 11

Blue Jays spent the week preparing for the new year as they attended one of two Book Days. The newest Blue Jays also participated in Investiture and Orientation on Thursday, Aug. 11.
