Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J., a man whose time at Jesuit left no small mark on the lives of many in the school community, was the subject of a featured article in this weekend’s Clarion Herald. Since leaving Jesuit in the summer of 2015, Fr. Fitzgerald has been living in a community of retired priests at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau, LA. He has been missioned to spend his time praying for the Society of Jesus and the Church, an important service to God’s people which he performs with diligence.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Fr. Fitzgerald’s ordination to the priesthood. He has served the Jesuit community as president from 2011 to 2013 and also in a variety of other capacities including teaching and leading retreats. His diagnosis with ALS prompted his stepping down as the president of Jesuit after three years.
