Jays Take Fourth in Rummel-Chapelle Cross Country Meet
Jesuit’s cross country team finished in fourth place in the Rummel-Chapelle Invitational on Saturday, Sep. 17 at City Park.
Unlike last week’s meet, when consistent cloud cover provided at least some relief from the heat, the morning sun this time was merciless, as was the humidity. With the course still damp in spots from the previous day’s rain, it wasn’t exactly a recipe for great times.
Senior Sam Recile finished atop Jesuit’s pack of eight runners, crossing the finish line of the three-mile race in 19:30. Rounding out the Top Five for the Jays, and therefore factoring into the team scoring, was sophomore Michael Buisson followed by a trio of juniors–Brenner Rauch, Jake Theriot, and Timmy Stahel. Seniors Bridges Baudier, Harper Miller, and Gabe Silvera also participated in the meet.
After sitting out the first two meets, Jesuit’s top runners will make their season debuts next Saturday, Sep. 24, when the team competes in the Gulf Coast Stampede in Pensacola, Fla.
