Blue Jay Hoopsters Cruise Past Vandebilt Catholic, 75-37
The Blue Jays ran away with the game against Vandebilt Catholic on Saturday night in the Jesuit Gym. The team scored its highest total yet (75) in a balanced offensive attack. Hunt Conroy and Will Hillery led the way, each scoring 14 points. Drew Black added 9 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Michael LaForge and Chris Beebe also had good games with 8 points each. The team shot 50% from the field, going 6/13 in three pointers.
Defense was really the story of the night. The high pressure defense of Jesuit forced 28 turnovers for the Terriers, 22 of which came off steals. This allowed the Jays to score 35 points off turnovers on their way to the 75-37 rout. On the other side of the ball, Jesuit took care of each possession and limited its turnover tally to six on the night.
The Jays are in action next on Tuesday night in the Birdcage against Mandeville. Tip off is at 7 PM.
