The Blue Jay Basketball team traveled to Atlanta between Christmas and New Years to participate in the St. Pius X holiday tournament. Stay tuned for scores, stats, and updates.

Final Game Loss: Jesuit 38, Jesuit Tampa 53

In their final game of the St. Pius X tournament, the Blue Jays fell to the Jesuit Tampa Tigers, 38-53.

In the Friday matchup, the Tigers shot a whopping 58% from the field, including 6 of 13 three pointers, which proved too much for the Jays to keep up with.

The Jays did not go quietly though, as Hunt Conroy scored 14 points, and Michael LaForge added 12 points.

The Jesuit basketball team will return to New Orleans and take on De La Salle on Tuesday night at 7 PM at De La Salle.

Loss: Jesuit 54, St. Pius X 57

In a game where the stat sheet for both teams was almost identical, the Jays lost a competitive game at the buzzer on Thursday to the team hosting the holiday tournament, St. Pius X.

The Jays and the Golden Lions of St. Pius X both shot 45% from the field; both teams had 17 turnovers; and until the last second three pointer to win the game for the Lions, both teams had scored 54 points.

Will Hillery led the way for the Jays with 14 points. Hunt Conroy added 12 points, and Chris Beebe had 9.

It was a tough loss for the Jays, whose shot at the championship game was dashed by the last second shot by St. Pius X. The Jays will face Jesuit Tampa at 3 PM on Friday to fight for the third place spot in the tournament, while St. Pius X goes on to face Brother Martin in the championship.

Win: Jesuit 63, Bishop McGuinness 41

In the first game of the St. Pius X tournament on Wednesday night, the Blue Jay basketball team defeated Bishop McGuinness 63-41.

Hunt Conroy and Elijah Morgan led the team offensively with 15 and 14 points respectively. Both players went 2-3 in three pointers and had 2 steals each. Other scorers in the game were Drew Black (9), Collin Kulivan (7), Nick Artigues (6), and Will Hillery (6).

The Jays put forward another solid defensive performance, limiting Bishop McGuinness to shooting only 36% from the field, compared to Jesuit’s 49%.
