Chapel Usage

Jesuit is honored when alumni, parents, and friends consider celebrating sacraments or special moments on campus. The chapels at Jesuit are intended primarily for current students, but Jesuit alumni and friends may reserve the chapel for weddings and other special occasions.

Notably, Jesuit does recognize that the proper “faith home” for Catholics is their parish church, and we encourage consultation with your local parish before planning sacramental events.

We also recommend contacting Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church on Baronne Street. As the historic home of Jesuit High School, Immaculate Conception frequently works with families to schedule baptisms, weddings, and funerals. The parish also welcomes priests and clergy from Jesuit High School as well as other visiting deacons and priests to officiate.

Weddings

Archdiocesan policy requires that couples begin preparing for their marriage with a priest or deacon no less than six months prior to their wedding. Exceptions to this policy are only made by the archdiocese in extenuating circumstances.

Weddings at Jesuit may be scheduled on:

  • Fridays from 5 – 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays from Noon – 7 p.m.
  • Dates when there are no prior scheduling conflicts for the school

Viewing of Jesuit’s chapel is coordinated through the school chaplain’s office. Please contact the chaplain to schedule your visit. No one is available to accommodate a site visit without scheduling it in advance. A virtual tour of the large chapel is available on the school’s website by CLICKING HERE.

Baptisms

Baptism ceremonies typically take place in the Holy Name of Jesus Chapel, more commonly referred to as the “small chapel” or the “second floor chapel.” Alumni interested in using the chapel for Baptisms should begin by filling out the online usage request form, indicating the preferred dates and times of the ceremony. Once the request is received, the family will be contacted by Jesuit’s facilities manager to discuss the date(s) requested.

Funerals

Funerals can be celebrated on Saturdays at times that do not conflict with school activities. Fees associated with the reservation of the chapel for funerals are coordinated through the funeral director. Please have your funeral director contact Jesuit’s facilities manager, D.J. Galiano, to discuss availability.
