Loyal, friendly, intelligent, and full of spirit are just a few words to describe Jesuit’s newly elected president of the Student Council, Christopher Dupre. A passionate Blue Jay through and through, Christopher has been a shining example of Jesuit leadership, spirituality, and spirit throughout his career at Jesuit High School.

Christopher has been very involved during his history at Jesuit with organizations such as Student Council, Campus Ministry, the varsity wrestling team, the rugby team, manager of the varsity soccer team, the Pro-Life Club, National Honor Society, and more.

Christopher is probably one of the busiest students at Jesuit High School this year trying to balance his responsibilities with his secret career as a singer that he hopes can take flight in his limited downtime, so the staff of The Blue Jay is very fortunate to get a chance to interview the top-dog one on one.

The Blue Jay: What were you feeling when they announced that you were elected president of the Student Council?

Chris Dupre: It was a great ending to a strenuous journey! I finally felt that I could have a great impact in Student Council in order to make Jesuit the best place it is able to be.

TBJ: How long have you wanted the job? Did the fact that you are the second member of your family to hold this position influence your decision to run?

CD: I have wanted this position ever since I got involved in Student Council in eighth grade. By watching my brother Matthew act as president, I got to see the impact the Student Council president has on the Student Council. I felt with that magnitude of influence of being on the E-board I could help the change the Blue Jay culture and revive the old Blue Jay spirit.

TBJ: What do you and the rest of Executive Board have in store for us this upcoming school year?

CD: We have planned great welcome and homecoming weeks. In addition to that, we have a new branch of Student Council, a new election process for homeroom officers, reform in the Student Council Constitution in order to unite and propel the student body for greatness!

TBJ: If you could go back and relive any of your past experiences as a Blue Jay, what would they be and why?

CD: My favorite moments include: when we packed the Birdcage in the basketball game against Holy Cross last year, when we beat Brother Martin twice in basketball last year, but, in general, my entire Jesuit experience has been a memorable one.

TBJ: What members of the faculty have made your Jesuit experience worthwhile?

CD: Coach Joey Latino, Mr. Matthew Orillion, Ms. Nilda Rivera, Mrs. Amy Tassin, Mr. Charlie McGannon, and wrestling Coach Spencer Harris

TBJ: Tell us about the creation of the Cabinet. Does each co-curricular get represented equally?

CD: The Cabinet is an organization that unites the Jesuit co-curriculars in order to advance all Blue Jay activities. Clubs with more direct student involvement get more representation but all clubs can apply for more representation.

TBJ: What is the one thing you are looking forward to this year the most?

CD: Making this the greatest year for each and every student in their Jesuit career. But this can only be done if every student commits to three goals: first, get involved; second, support each other; and three, be a leader in everything you do here at Jesuit.

TBJ: Any news about the homeroom showdown?

CD: It’s back this year bigger and better. We have a champion’s week planned for the grade with the most points and champion’s day at the end of each quarter to celebrate the winning homeroom for each quarter. Also we have a traveling trophy for each month.

TBJ: Is this the end of the line for your career of politics or is this merely the first step on the staircase of future political glory?

CD: This may possibly be a first step in politics. But in reality I’ve always wanted to pursue my dream of becoming a circus clown!
