Congratulations to the Jesuit varsity basketball team for their ten-point road victory over the Chalmette Owls on Tuesday night. After ceding an early lead to the Owls in the first period, the Jays closed the gap by the end of the first half and took a two-point lead into the locker room. At the start of the second half, the Jays separated from the Owls and extended their lead to as much as eleven points. When the final buzzer sounded, Jesuit left Chalmette High School with a 47-37 district win. Leading scorers for the Jays in victory were sophomore Trey LaForge with 19 points and senior Matt Felger with 10 points. The Blue Jays, with a 2-0 district record, will continue district play on Friday, Jan. 16, when the varsity squad hosts Grace King. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m.
