Jesuit basketball defeated Catholic High of Baton Rouge, 49-34, to open play in the Newman Invitational Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Senior Grant Nichols added nine and junior Foster Moreau added eight to go along with seven rebounds.

At the top of the game, Blue Jays and Bears answered scores shot for shot. The Blue Jay student section kept spirits high throughout the game. Jesuit led 23-9 at the half and maintained a comfortable lead to win the game 49-34.

With this win, the Jays will return to play Country Day on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Newman gym. See the Newman Invitational Tournament brackets (pdf) for more information.
