Soccer Jays Defeat Shaw Eagles, 3-0, in a Ho-Hum Match

Senior William McQueen (left) can’t believe his eyes and feet as he just misses landing on Eagles’ wings.
Jesuit’s varsity soccer team (2-0-1) defeated Archbishop Shaw, 3-0, in the opening district match for both teams. The Jays easily had 40 shots on goal but struggled to put the ball away. Shaw gave Jesuit its first score with an “own goal.” Junior Patrick Lacour gave the Jays a 2-0 halftime lead. In the second half, senior Evan DeHoog scored to make it 3-0.
The Blue Jays face much stiffer district competition on Friday evening when they take on Archbishop Rummel at John Ryan Stadium. The varsity match begins at 7 p.m., preceded by a junior varsity game at 5 p.m. between the two schools.
