The Blue Jay golf team qualified for the regional round of the playoffs by finishing second at the Bi-District Tournament on Monday, April 21. The 12-school event took place at beautiful Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville.
St. Paul’s won the tournament with a four-player total of 309. Jesuit finished with a team score of 319.
Senior C.J. Blagrove and sophomore Grant Glorioso shot 77s. Senior Alex Anderson carded an 81 while classmate Will Dufour posted an 84. Senior Cole Johnson’s 87 was thrown out. Only the top four scores from each school count toward the team total.
“I think our guys are happy to have the bi-district competition behind us,” said head coach Owen Seiler ’75. “Beau Chene is a challenging course. I know our best golf is ahead of us,” he concluded.
The other two teams who qualified for the regional round are Mandeville, who tallied a 321, and Ponchatoula, who shot a 329.
The eight-team regional tournament takes place on Tuesday, April 29 at Carter Plantation near Hammond. The top four squads in regional action will compete in the state tournament scheduled for Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6 at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport.
