Golfers Soar Against Brother Martin

Four Blue Jay golfers, including senior Colin Hery, shot 39s to beat Bro. Martin at Lakewood Golf Club.
Finally! After rain and lightning cancelled the team’s first two matches, the Blue Jays finally finished nine holes (a complete district round). Jesuit bested Brother Martin, 198-209, on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Lakewood Golf Club.
Consistency was the theme of the afternoon. Four Blue Jay golfers — senior Colin Hery, junior Grant Glorioso, and freshmen Grayson Glorioso and J. T. Holmes — recorded 39s. Senior Johnny Cedro shot a 42. Senior Francis Plough’s 43 was discarded. Hery and Holmes are newcomers to the team.
The season opening match against Archbishop Rummel on Tuesday, Sept. 17 was rained out and lightning sent the Jays and Shaw Eagles heading for safe harbor on Thursday, Sept. 19. Against Shaw, Jesuit was credited with a victory because the Eagles landed with only three golfers. Course officials suspended play after three holes.
Jesuit’s district record stands at 2-0.
The Jays face Chalmette on Wednesday, Sept. 24, and Holy Cross on Thursday, Sept. 25. Both matches are scheduled to be played at Lakewood.
