Jayettes Dance Team Named All-Star Dance Camp Champions
The Jayettes Dance Team attended the American All-Star Dance Camp in Baton Rouge from June 16-19 where they were named Camp Champions. This is the highest recognition a team can be awarded and is given to only one team in each division. This achievement is a first for Jesuit’s Jayettes.
To become Camp Champs, the team’s total score for all evaluations was the highest of the teams who participated. They received all Superior ribbons for individual evaluations, a Superior rating and 2nd place for the “Home” routine (“Newsies”).
The team also received the Judges’ Award voted on by the staff as the team that they enjoyed working with the most. And finally, they received a Superior rating and 1st place for their final competition kick dance.
In addition to the group accomplishments, several team members were selected individually as All-Stars. All-Stars are dancers chosen by the staff for their hard work and positive attitudes throughout camp.
The team is coached by Chloe Crosby, moderated by Jesuit faculty member, Nilda Rivera, and includes 36 members representing several all-girl high schools from around the city. Congratulations, Jayettes!
