Jesuit Wins Allstate Sugar Bowl Metro Swimming Championship

The 2014 swimming team took first place at the Metro Championship on Nov. 1.

Jesuit swimmers bested their opponents by over 100 points scoring 397.5 points to win the AllState Sugar Bowl Metro Championship at UNO on Saturday, Nov. 1. Blue Jays placed in the top five for nine out of 11 races.

Senior Chris Simmons was awarded boys most valuable swimmer honors. He won both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Senior Michael Conrad also won two individual races—the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.

Jesuit’s relay teams also took first place in two of three races—the 400-yard freestyle and the 200-yard medley. Swimming the 400 free were Simmons, Conrad, senior Francis Plough, and junior Cade Fuxan. In the 200 medley were Plough and Fuxan, with seniors Sam Johnson and Patrick Cecola.

The Blue Jays will next compete in the state championships scheduled for Nov. 19-22 in Sulphur.
