Large Crowd Expected for Jesuit – Brother Martin Baseball Showdown
Rivals Play Friday, March 28 at John Ryan Stadium;
First Pitch: 7 PM
One of the largest crowds since opening night at John Ryan Stadium in April 2012 is expected to be on hand Friday, March 28 when Jesuit hosts Brother Martin in a much-anticipated district showdown between two top teams in the state.
First pitch is 7 p.m. Students and faculty are admitted free with school IDs. Season passes will be accepted. Otherwise, admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children (6-11). Children under six are admitted free.
Senior C.J. Avrard (4-0) is expected to start on the mound for the Jays. Carrying big sticks lately for the Jays are Blake Baker (2B), Alex Galy (SS), Trent Forshag (C), Stephen Sigle (DH), and Spencer Miller (3B). The Jays are currently 15-3 and, as of March 26, occupy the fourth spot in the so-called Louisiana Baseball Power Rankings. The Crusaders are 17-2 and are in the third position of the same rankings, behind Barbe (1) and Comeaux (2).
For Jesuit, this will be the second district game of the season. The Blue Jays shut out the Raiders of Archbishop Rummel, 3-0, in the opener Tuesday, March 25 behind the fine pitching of Brandon Sequeira and Glynn Hyer. The Jays scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning.
The Jesuit – Brother Martin game will be broadcast live on the radio (by the Crusaders) on WGSO (990-AM) with sportscaster Ken Trahan calling the play-by-play. A pre-game show begins at 6:45 p.m.
Come on out and support the Blue Jays at John Ryan Stadium… and ARRIVE EARLY!
