About the Show
Damn Yankees is a musical comedy with a book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop and music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. The classic baseball musical is a modern retelling of the Faust legend, in which a man exchanges his soul to the devil in exchange for extraordinary powers (in this case, a power hitter).

Damn YankeesTakes Audience on a Fun-filled Race for the Pennant
Light, fast-paced and devilishly clever, the Phils’ production of Damn Yankees features a large cast (see the Cast List) singing and dancing in big musical numbers like “Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo.,” “Heart,” and “The Game.”
Director Kate Arthurs welcomes back some talented Phils alumni to work on the show: Kirk Redmann ’79 (Joe Boyd), Kenny Beck ’79 (choreographer), Benny Baptiste ’81 (Comissioner), and Ian Morel ’13 (Welch). Arthurs said she is excited to have Phils alumni work with students because Damn Yankees is “the right choice for this talented group of kids. I am inspired by the kids I work with and with the new kids that always show up at each audition.”
