Blue Jays Seek Sixth Consecutive LHSAA Regional Tennis Title

Jesuit’s varsity tennis team swept day one of the LHSAA Class 5A Region III Tennis Tournament in City Park on Tuesday, April 22. The team will advance to play semifinal matches on Wednesday as the Jays seek to defend their sixth consecutive regional title. The event sponsored by Allstate Sugar Bowl crowns the top boys and girls tennis teams and individuals from the Bayou region of Louisiana and the South-shore Metro New Orleans area.

As the top seeds in both singles and doubles, Blue Jays began the day with a Bye in round one. In singles were senior Jordan Lacoste (1) and junior Alex Depascual (2). In doubles were: junior Gregory Suhor/sophomore Brandon Beck (1), sophomores Jacob and Johnathan Niehaus (2), seniors Andrew Tufts and Kevin Mickan (3). Alternates on hand were freshman Jack Steib and junior Patrick Torsch.

Semifinal matches will be take place Wednesday, April 23 with a Blue and White face-off in doubles with Gregory Suhor/ Brandon Beck vs. Andrew Tufts and Kevin Mickan.

By winning regional quarterfinal matches, all eight Blue Jays have qualified to compete in the LHSAA state tournament on April 28.
