Wrestling Team Tops Shaw, Turns Attention to Louisiana Classic

The wrestling team opened district play with a convincing 34-30 win over Archbishop Shaw in its home gym on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
The team now sets its sights on the Louisiana Classic high school wrestling tournament, which kicks off Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. The two-day tournament includes three rounds of the championship bracket and first round of consolation. The finals are slated for Sunday at 4 p.m.
According to press reports, the Classic will be minus one Blue Jay rival and fellow New Orleans area school this year as defending Louisiana Classic champions Brother Martin announced its withdraw from the tournament due to injuries.
