Jesuit basketball suffered a hard 46-42 loss in the Crusader gym on Friday, Feb. 7. The Blue Jays led by 11 heading into the fourth, but ultimately fell with a late rally by the Crusaders. The loss snaps a four-game district winning streak for the Jays, and puts the Saders ahead in district play.

The score in the first period see-sawed and ended with the Saders (19-7, 4-2) up by three. But Jesuit  (15-8, 4-3) took control in the second. Senior Foster Moreau made 12 of his total 16 rebounds to help the Jays post a 14-2 run and take a 23-17 lead at the half.

After the break, however, the Crusaders made a conscious effort to cover Moreau and chip away at the deficit. With two minutes left, the game was tied at 39 and the momentum swung against the Jays’ favor.

Senior Trey LaForge finished with a game-high 21 points. Moreau finished with 11 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks. Junior Rob Weiss added five.

This is the second Jesuit-Brother Martin matchup lost to the Crusaders this season.

Next up, the Blue Jays will host the Raiders (19-9, 3-3) in the Birdcage on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Tip off is at 7 p.m. Follow game action live on Twitter @bluejay_hoops.
