Baton Rouge Alumni from 1949 to 2015 Gather at Premier Chapter Event
The beautiful L’Auberge Casino was the setting for the initial gathering of the Baton Rouge Alumni Chapter on the evening of July 22. Organized by chapter leader Dan Shea ’86 and hosted by L’Auberge senior V-P and general manager Mickey Parenton ’84, the party provided an opportunity for the Baton Rouge Jays to reconnect with each other and with their alma mater. More than 70 Blue Jays from the Classes of 1949 to 2015 were treated to a great event of food, refreshments, and Blue Jay Spirit. LSU radio personality and chapter leadership team member Gordy Rush ’86 hosted a remote Jesuit High School Road Show audio broadcast with a listening range distance close to that of a shanked punt. Gordy brought up Jesuit football coach Mark Songy, president Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J. ’66, and alumni director Mat Grau ’68 to provide an insider’s view of life at Carrollton and Banks. A big “Thank You” goes to Mickey Parenton, whose generosity provided a great jump-start to Baton Rouge chapter events.
