Blue Jay Robotics Takes First in Southeast FTC Tournament
Two Blue Jay Robotics teams were allied together and, along with Pirate Robotics out of east Texas, placed first at the Southeast First Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Tournament held at Hamshire-Fannett High School on Saturday, Jan. 18. Out of 22 registered teams from across southeast Texas, both Jesuit teams advanced together as part of the same alliance to win the finals match. Both teams have previously qualified for the Southeast Texas Regional Championship to be held on Feb. 21 at San Jacinto College.
Robotics Team members participating in the tournament were seniors Michael Belanger, Bryan Jones, Michael Riddick, Conner Hartupee, and Steven Stradley; junior Andrew Vuong; sophomores Todd Crabtree, John Crowson, and Julian Mahfouz; and freshman Emory Ducote.
For their next competition, both teams will travel to Pasadena, Texas to participate in another qualifying tournament on Jan. 31. San Jacinto College will host the event.
