A large and enthusiastic crowd is expected for Jesuit basketball’s district opener against St. Augustine on Friday, Jan. 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Jesuit’s Birdcage.

The two teams met earlier in the season. On Dec. 20, the Purple Knights beat the Blue Jays, 45 to 30, in the finals of the Valero Christmas Classic at Chalmette High School.

The Blue Jays finished the non-district portion of the season with a record of 10-5.

Jesuit enters district competition on a hot streak. On Tuesday, Jan. 6, the Blue Jays downed De La Salle, 47-44, following it up with a lopsided crushing of Northlake Christian, 79-55, on Friday, Jan. 9. Both games were on the road.

A game against South Terrebonne scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 13, was cancelled.
