Much To Be Thankful For
This past semester certainly provided us with much to be thankful for.
The school year began with the announcement of 38 National Academic Scholars and concluded with a night in the Superdome that will be remembered for years to come. The annual Thanksgiving Drive once again brought together a number of Jesuit community members to feed 460 families. Grade level retreats have been exceptional as they continue to play a key role in the spiritual development of our students. Additionally, upper classmen have taken on a leadership role that has brought more meaning to the student retreat experience. The cross country and swimming teams achieved state championship and state runner-up honors respectively, and the football team succeeded in winning its first state championship since 1960. The Philelectic Society produced two outstanding plays, The National Honors Society inducted 140 new members, we were visited by students from Germany and France, and this only covers a fraction of the fall semester activities.
During this school year, Fr. McGinn has been speaking about gratitude. As we look back at the first half of this school year, we have much to be grateful for, and I look forward to the many blessings that 2015 holds for the Jesuit community.
