A newly installed computer patiently awaits its first user in the second-floor computer lab. The resource center and computer labs around campus received new towers and monitors in anticipation of the 2022-2023 school year. The old monitors assisted Blue Jays in various courses for over 16 years before being officially retired. 

A new Blue Jay parent shares a laugh with Jesuit volunteer Katie Perrien at the New Parent Blue Jay Shop Sale in the first-floor conference room of the Madonna della Strada building. It is not too late to save on Jesuit gear going into the 2022-2023 school year as the Blue Jay shop is open for business and always looking to provide top-tier products for past, present, and future Jays. 

A group of 51 Jesuit wrestlers poses for a picture in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where the esteemed collection of grapplers took part in the “Iron Sharpens Iron Camp.” They were able to get instruction from Penn State National Champions Aaron Brooks and Carter Storroci along with University of Michigan National Runner-up and Olympic Bronze Medalist Myles Amine. the squad performed well by finishing as Champions of the Silver Bracket at Camp.

Rising seniors Hollis McDaniel and Patrick Dowd pose for a picture during their service project at St. Michael Special School. In addition to the incredible work that Jesuit students are conducting at St. Michael, the rest of the rising senior class is currently performing 100 hours of service with a single agency. The service must consist of direct contact with people in need, rather than administrative work. 

The Class of 1967 poses for a picture in the Jesuit Courtyard on June 10, 2022. As another successful summer reunion season comes to a close, Jesuit thanks all those that participated in making each reunion as enjoyable as the last. 

Normally an activity restricted to the indoors, Jesuit’s day campers enjoyed a game of laser tag on Will Clark Field. With the sun on their backs the campers ran around armed with hi-tech phasers that shot an invisible infrared beam tagging their opponents’ sensors.

Zack Swan ’09, Trey Adams ’13, Russell Perez ’09, Dane Chalin ’13, Jackson Sevin ’22, Matthew Blasini ’14, Daniel Swear ’09, Drew Necaise ’05, Keith Murray ’00, Preston Perez ’04, and Stephen Green ’01 take a short break from their work at Krewe De Camp to pose for a photo. The camp’s mission is to provide a traditional, overnight summer camp experience to children with developmental disabilities while also giving their parents and caretakers a much needed rest. Many Jesuit students use this camp to fulfill their service requirement, and this year is no different. Thank you to these men for making this life-changing experience possible and all other volunteers needed to make the camp efficient and effective. 

Assistant to the president for mission Jeremy Reuther ’01 exchanges a joke with Taylor Billings ’12 during the 2022 spring Alumni Steering Committee. During the second steering meeting of the 2022 academic year, the members discussed a plethora of topics from the Bazaar to possible Alumni retreats. As always, Jesuit is grateful for the feedback and is eager to put the ideas into action. 

Spanish teacher Scout Serpas ’13 winces as sophomores Aidan DelaGardelle and Jack Elvir shave his beloved mustache. Every year Jesuit’s Campus Ministry sponsors a mission drive where various activities are bided on with all the money this year going to the Lord’s ranch, an outreach ministry in Vado, New Mexico. DelaGardelle and Elvir both agreed that this was the best $40 that they have ever donated. 

On May 4, in honor of the inter-galactic holiday the rising student council hosted a Star Wars themed lunch complete with a costume contest and a gladiator jousting inflatable. Rising student body president Roland Waguespack awards BB-8 and Darth Vader first and second place, respectively.

Senior Josh Berault walks through a rousing crowd of fellow classmates to receive his senior superlative. On the third day of senior week, a long-held tradition occurred  in the Jesuit commons: serving of Five Happiness and bestowing of senior superlatives. Next, the Class of 2022 prepares annual tour-de-khaki on Thursday morning. 

With a few feet of plastic sheeting, orange traffic cones, dish soap, and a sprinkler, the Class of 2022 slid right into day two of Senior Week. While the majority donned swim trunks some remained in uniform. The seniors were creative with how they attempted to glide across the slip n’ slide—most went with the traditional baseball slide, others dove head-first, while the truly brave attempted to run across the 30+ feet of plastic sheeting.

Senior week has officially begun as the Class of 2022 gears up to leave for their next adventures, the student council has planned a new activity each day to inspire and thank the class starting with senior shirt and jambalaya day on April 25, 2022. 

The first in-person MCJROTC Change of Command since 2019 had family and friends watching with pride as Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Guerney assumed command from Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Finger. The change of command is signified by the current cadet lieutenant colonel presenting the colors to the upcoming cadet lieutenant colonel. 

Brandon Briscoe ‘ 98 explains the spiritual and physical history of St. Mary’s Assumption Church. The 2022 Nine Churches Walk welcomed new and old faces at a novel starting location, Holy Name of Jesus Church, and all those gathered participated vigorously in the stations and prayed at each Church along the six-mile route.
